Small businesses are told to post more. Boost more. Optimize more.

But here’s the real move:

Go where people are already emotionally invested. Where they feel something!


Where they’re yelling at the TV.High-fiving strangers.Or crying into a beer.

There is almost nowhere left in our culture where attention, emotion, loyalty, and community all collide at once.

Sports is that place.

Be part of that.


If you’re a small business owner or solo operator, you don’t have the luxury of wasting time or money on marketing that doesn’t convert.

You need relevance.


Over the past year, I’ve worked on major sports marketing strategy with Fix-it Group, a major multi-market company across Denver, Dallas, Phoenix, and Charleston alongside teams like the Denver Broncos, Colorado Rockies, Dallas Cowboys, Arizona Diamondbacks, and the Charleston Battery.

Year one has been powerful.

True brand awareness.Real lead generation.Measurable growth across markets.


I’m not sharing the strategy behind it. We’ve worked way too hard for that.

But I will give credit where it’s due. The leadership at Fix-It Group saw early that sports is not a logo play. It’s a long-term brand play. That forward thinking is why the work has been so strong.


What I can share are the lessons that small businesses and individuals can use immediately.

Because you do not need a stadium deal to tap into emotion, excitement, and community.

You just need to align with it.


Lesson One: Attach to Emotion, Not Exposure

That’s it.

If you’re a local pub, here’s a simple example:

Free beer to cry in after a loss.

You know they’re ordering another round.

That is not a discount. That is emotional alignment.

If you own a bakery, create a “Victory Cookie” the morning after a win.If you’re a coach or consultant, film a quick game-day reaction video.If you run a gym, offer a “Win Day” drop-in special.

You are not trying to outspend anyone.

You are stepping into a moment that already has energy.

That is smart brand positioning.

Lesson Two: Win Hyper-Local

Small businesses do not need national reach.

They need community relevance.

Minor league games. College rivalries. High school Friday nights.

When your brand reflects local pride, trust accelerates.

And trust converts.

Lesson Three: Make It Human and Shareable

You do not need complicated funnels.

You need moments people talk about.

A chalkboard sign that says,“If we win tonight, tomorrow’s coffee is half off.”

A post that says,“Celebrating or crying, we’re here.”

These are small moves that create memory.

Memory builds brand.

Lesson Four: Turn Attention Into Relationship

Emotion creates attention. Consistency builds business.

Collect emails during promotions.Offer bounce-back incentives.Encourage tags and shares.Follow up simply.

Big companies build systems around emotional moments.

Small businesses can build relationships.

Here’s the bottom line.

You do not need a bigger marketing budget.

You need to show up where people are already hooked in.

Where they feel something.Where community exists.Where identity matters.

Sports just happens to be one of the only environments left that checks all of those boxes at once.

When you align your brand with emotion, excitement, and community, you stop chasing attention.

You become part of something people already care about.
